FIRST IMPRESSION

In recent months, Allure Beauty Box has been knocking it out of the park, and the spoilers for the April box was no exception. I got this box a couple of weeks ago (so sorry for the late review, but my life – I’m sure, just like yours – has been crazy due to this pandemic!).

Subscriptionado paid for this box.

ON TO THE ITEMS!

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb

Size: 0.24 fl oz (Full size: 1.7 oz)

RV: $16.24 (Full size: $115)

This was the item I was looking forward to the most. I’m as obsessed with perfumes as I am with subscription boxes, which is saying a lot! Flowerbomb is simply just lovely. On me, it has sweet and floral top notes with powdery musk middle notes.

As much as I love perfume, I tend to avoid the majority on the market because strong scents trigger my migraines. Not so with Flowerbomb – it’s so light that I could wear it all day without bothering me. I highly recommend this to those who are sensitive to strong scents!

  • Thrive Causemetics Lip Filler Long Wearing + Plumping Lip Liner and box
  • Thrive Causemetics Lip Filler Long Wearing + Plumping Lip Liner in Valisia with cap off

Thrive Causemetics Lip Filler Long Wearing + Plumping Lip Liner in Valisia

Size: 0.35 g

RV: $20

I love lip products, and lip liners are such a necessity for me. I’m always glad to receive it in a box. This is probably one of the best lip liners I’ve ever received in a box! It’s so smooth and creamy! It doesn’t dry down and crack like some of my current lip liners. The color I received was tame enough to blend with most of my pink lipsticks. The end even pops out to reveal a “sharpener” that keeps the precise tip pointy! So cool!

Eva Nyc Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer

Eva Nyc Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer

Size: 1 fl oz (Full size: 6 oz)

RV: $2 (Full size: $11.99)

My current hair routine includes the Drybar Prep & Rally Prep Spray and the Aveda Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair Cream (both from FabFitFun boxes), and the NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Smooth Blowout Lotion (from my April Birchbox). Applying these products take a few extra minutes out of my day. This spray claims to do the work of those products I already use, and more. How does it stack up?

Pretty well, actually! It leaves my hair soft and manageable after a shower. On my Day 2 hair, a few spritzes take care of the flyaways and leave it fragrant. I don’t think it’s the best product for all it claims to do (Detangles, Nourishes, Strengthens, Softens, Cuts Drying Time, Adds Shine, Reduces Frizz, Smooths, Protects Against Thermal and Environmental Damage, Protects Against UV Damage), but it’s an exceptional Jack-of-all-trades. When I’m in a rush, this is a great alternative to my shelf of products!

Lue by Jean Seo Balance Hydrating & Calming Serum

Lue by Jean Seo Balance Hydrating & Calming Serum

Size: 1 fl oz

RV: $15

The most impressive thing about this serum is the list of ingredients. There are only 4 ingredients in this product. FOUR! And I can pronounce them all! As someone who uses a ton of skincare formulas for this blog (and for fun), this was a nice change of pace. This has no fragrance and no artificial colors, so all I really had to test was the efficacy. Did it work?

Yup! It’s a pretty nice serum. It might be too basic for my sensitive, combination skin, though. I prefer multi-purpose treatments like brightening and anti-aging. But it’s a good staple for those just starting out.

Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment

Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment

Size: 5 mL (Full size: 50 mL)

RV: $5.20 (Full size: $52)

As I’ve mentioned, I test a lot of products throughout the month, which is not always great for my sensitive skin. Switching through different formulas can sometimes make my skin looking a bit ruddy. This color-correcting treatment cuts down the redness noticeably! My skin looks so calm when I use this. It even smells calming, too! And, bonus – it has SPF 30! I wish this sample was bigger, because I can’t get enough of it.

Akar Skin Balance Toner

Akar Skin Balance Toner

Size: 30 mL (Full size: 70 mL)

RV: $23.57 (Full size: $55)

If you’ve read my April IPSY Glam Bag Plus review, you’ll know all about my toner woes. While I still use my Sunday Riley Martian toner in secret, this is the toner I’ve been using whenever I have to be around people. This Akar toner has a light fruity scent that I love. It absorbs quickly, leaving my skin feeling moisturized and ready to absorb serums. My only complaint about this product – it’s so hard to get the product out of the container!

Purlisse Matcha Green Tea Antioxidant Sheet Mask

Purlisse Matcha Green Tea Antioxidant Sheet Mask

Size: 1 mask (Full size: 6 masks)

RV: $6 (Full size: $36)

I love sheet masks, and I especially love Purlisse. The abrupt change in weather in my area (50 degrees one day, mid-70’s the next) has really dried out my skin, so this was a nice, balancing mask to use. This formula was calming and moisturizing. If I wasn’t already drowning in sheet masks, I would buy a whole box of this!

FINAL IMPRESSION

This was another amazing box from Allure! Usually, I have a clear-cut favorite product in a box, but I honestly can’t choose in this one! I love the perfume, it’s such a great everyday scent. The lip liner has been a staple in my makeup routine, the Akar toner has saved me from embarrassment in company, and the Dr. Jart+ color-correcting treatment was a product I didn’t know I needed until now!

Highest Value Item: Akar Skin Balance Toner

THE BREAKDOWN

These are the retail values of the products I received:

  • Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb: $16.24
  • Thrive Causemetics Lip Filler Long Wearing + Plumping Lip Liner in Valisia: $20
  • Eva Nyc Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer: $2
  • Lue by Jean Seo Balance Hydrating & Calming Serum: $15
  • Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment: $5.20
  • Akar Skin Balance Toner: $23.57
  • Purlisse Matcha Green Tea Antioxidant Sheet Mask: $6

Total Value: $88.01!  That’s almost 6x the cost of the box!

At $15 per box, it’s like I paid $2.14 per item. That’s so awesome, especially with full-sized products like the lip liner and serum!

Is this box still available? No, but as of this publication, I believe you can still sign up for a May box. Check out the full spoilers!
