ON TO THE ITEMS!

Spongelle sponge and box

Spongelle Zodiac Collection Earth Lavender & Sea Salt Buffer

Size: 3 oz

RV: $20

I’m no stranger to Spongelle, so I was ecstatic that I got one in this box! This is a hot commodity in FabFitFun boxes and sales. By far, I think this Zodiac collection item is my favorite Spongelle item ever! This sponge is for “Earth” signs: Capricorn, Virgo, and Taurus. It has a heavenly scent of lavender and sea salt. I think it strikes a perfect balance between these two scent profiles. It smells clean and fresh, but the sea salt keeps it from smelling too much like laundry detergent.

Verdetta facial mist

Verdetta Keep Fresh Vitamin Energizing Face Mist

Size: 200 mL

RV: $26

Oh, no. I really wanted to like this product…particularly since there’s just so much of it. However, I did not like the smell of this mist at all. To me, this spray has a “wet rag” smell that does not dissipate. It’s too bad because with aloe being one of its main ingredients, this would have been perfect for summer. I honestly don’t know what to do with this product. Can I salvage it by using a lotion with a stronger fragrance layered on top? Maybe. Because otherwise, I don’t know if anyone else will take this product off my hands, and I hate letting things go to waste.

  • Get Gem necklace
  • Closeup of Get Gem necklace

Get Gem Pave Triangle Necklace

RV: $68

While I find the price overinflated for this piece, I’m quite happy with this necklace. This is just my style: a long, dainty gold chain with a pendant. I love that this pendant is eye-catching, yet not over-the-top.

The packaging doesn’t say what kind of hardware or stones are used for this necklace. SinglesSwag’s insert card notes that the necklace is gold-plated with an 18” chain plus 2” extender. I wish they would have confirmed whether the stones are cubic zirconia or something else. All the jewelry on Get Gem’s website have CZ, but they’re also about $12 more than the retail value of this necklace.

Summer Souffle bronzing primer

Trifle Cosmetics Summer Souffle

Size: 30 mL

RV: $26

I have never received a product like this before, which is a real treat for someone with a lot of subscription boxes! This is a face and body bronzing primer – how cool is that?! I’ve never worn any kind of makeup below my neck, so between this and the body makeup drop (below), I’m seriously considering hopping onto this trend.

This shade of bronze is perfect for me; it’s the exact shade of tan my skin gets after a day on the beach. Now that I’m staying away from beaches for the foreseeable future, I’m warming up to the idea of using this to fake a healthy glow! This formula is vegan and does not include gluten, parabens, or phthalates. It’s also hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic. The only issue I have with this product is that there’s not enough! At $26 for 30 mL (such a tiny little thing!), I don’t know if I would buy more once I run out.

Makeup Drop

Makeup Drop Body Edition

RV: $20

I mainly use a brush to apply foundation, so it took a minute to get used to this. After my first use, I’ve gotta say, I’m in love! I usually have to go over my skin with a couple of different brushes to get a good blend with my foundation. This silicone applicator makes it easier to get that blurring effect that kind of hides pores!

I also used this with the Trifle Cosmetics product, and I liked it! This applicator is flat and broad, making it quick and easy to use on large areas of my body like my shoulders and arms.

Mollie Jacob pouch

Mollie Jacob Beach Chic Pouch

RV: $28

I love the nautical design of this pouch! I’m very picky when it comes to bags – it irks me when a design is good but the hardware and lining seem like an afterthought. I’m quite satisfied with the details of this Mollie Jacob pouch. The stitching is done well, the zipper looks hardy, and the inside lining feels like good quality material. This will definitely find its home in my beach bag!

  • Kitsch hair tie
  • Kitsch Hair Tie back

Kitsch Hair Tie Bracelet Set

Size: 5 hair ties

RV: $10

I’m a sucker for hair ties. Ever since I’ve decided to keep my hair long, it’s often styled as a bun, ponytail, or braids. I appreciate these adorable hair ties! The elastic is decent, although it has trouble keeping my hair in a bun or a high ponytail. It’s perfect for braids, though!

deep sea lotion

Deep Sea Cosmetics Hand and Body Lotion with Shea Butter

Size: 3.4 fl oz

RV: $28

Oh my goodness, this lotion smells amaaaazing!

I mean, it’s a decent lotion that absorbs into the skin after a minute. It does leave a little bit of an oily residue. However, this product also contains aloe, so it’s great after being out in the sun for an extended period.

But my favorite thing about this is the fragrance. It smells a bit like the Philosophy Amazing Grace perfume! I can wear this alone and not have to spritz on an additional spray.

FINAL IMPRESSION

All items in the SinglesSwag May 2020 Welcome box

The SinglesSwag May 2020 Welcome Box is a great subscription box experience! I got to try a couple of things that were completely new to me, like the body bronzer and makeup drop. There were also some tried-and-true favorites like Spongelle and a makeup bag that I’m always happy to get. True, there is that mist that was a real downer, but other than that, I’m extremely satisfied with my first box!

Favorite Item: Makeup Drop Body Edition

Highest Value Item: Get Gem Pave Triangle Necklace ($68)
