FIRST IMPRESSION
My girlfriend is subscribed to the Birchbox Beauty Box, and she always gets a great value for the price. When she told me there was a men’s box, I was interested in trying it.
This package came in the mail pretty quickly after billing. (I’m sorry for the late review, but I’ll have the May box review up soon, too.)
ON TO THE ITEMS!
(MALIN + GOETZ) Grapefruit Face Cleanser
Size: 0.5 fl oz (Full size: 8 oz)

Most of the cleansers I’ve tried have consciously masculine scents – you know what I mean. Kind of like sticking my face in a spice cabinet or walking into a woodshop. This product has a citrus scent – clean but not overwhelming. That being said, I don’t know if I actually like this smell. It’s not a bad smell – just personal preference.
Billy Jealousy Devils Delight Body Wash
Size: 0.5 fl oz ( Full size: 8 oz)

I have never heard of this brand before getting this product. I wish I had gotten a bigger sample because I was only able to use it once, so I can’t say much. This has a nice lather, smells good, and does what it’s supposed to do, and I guess you can’t ask for more than that in a body wash.
Kiehl’s – Men Ultimate Man Body Scrub Soap

I have to confess, I don’t know much about skincare. My girlfriend still yells at me when I use body lotion on my face (I didn’t know there was a difference??). It’s hard to keep track of cleansers and scrubs and moisturizers and all that. So when I saw this in the box, I was like, “Yes. A bar of soap. This I know!”
I really like this soap. It smells good, and it has a texture from the oat bran and kernels that are packed in it. It’s a nice size, too.
Maapilim Moisturizer
Size: 0.17 fl oz (2 fl oz)

This is a really tiny tube! Right now, I’m using the Maapilim face cleanser, which I like because it doesn’t have any smell. This moisturizer does have a scent but it’s really subtle. The only thing is this is ant-sized! I only got to use it once. I wish I had more to try.
Wilma Schumann Skin Care Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads
Size: 1 pair (Full size: 5 pairs)

I liked this a lot! It was nice and cooling. I’ve used a sheet mask before, but I like these eye pads better because there’s not as much product that gets everywhere. I’m not sure I saw a difference before and after using these pads, but I liked how my skin felt afterward.
FINAL IMPRESSION
This was my first Birchbox Grooming box, and I gotta say that I’m still iffy about it. Maybe it’s because I’ve seen my girlfriend’s Birchbox boxes, and she gets really excited about what she gets and it always sounds pretty nice. Or maybe it’s because I’m not as familiar with skincare brands as she is, but I couldn’t match her excitement for this box. If I got more of the Maapilim moisturizer, I think I would have been happier with this subscription.
