Oh my goodness, I’m so excited for this box! Allure Beauty Box spoils their items well ahead of time, so I’ve been waiting impatiently for it. Without further ado…
ON TO THE ITEMS!
Skin Inc My Daily Dose of Glow
Size: 20 mL

Where to start? First of all, check out this gorgeous bottle! This is the prettiest serum I’ve ever used. The little boba-like balls are seaweed encapsulate that prevents components from being degraded by UV rays and oxidation. They contain ingredients like Vitamin A, chlorella extract, and hyaluronic acid, all of which help make the skin look bright and hydrated.
And hydrate, it does! The first time I used this product, my skin felt so relieved. It absorbed this serum like a parched camel at a watering hole. In fact, I was so impressed with this formula that I ended up just using the bottle every day instead of switching it out for a different product. I can’t believe it, but my bottle has long been empty!
AHC Essential Real Eye Cream for Face

Have you ever loved an eye cream so much that you wanted to use it all over your face? I think this is the concept of this “Eye Cream for Face”, so I was all in! However…this cream and I are not a good match. First of all, the floral scent is too much. I feel like I’m getting smacked in the face with a bridal bouquet whenever I apply this. It absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave any residue, but it makes my skin feel dry and tight. I’ve had to go over with a heavier cream after this, which my skin can’t take during the day.
VDL Lumilayer Primer
Size: 5 mL (Full size: 30 mL)
RV: $5.33 (Full size: $32)
This product claims to give a glass-like skin finish to your look. I think it delivers! It doesn’t feel heavy on my skin like some other glow-boosting primers. Actually, it’s a lot more matte than I was expecting, but I don’t mind that at all! My only gripe is that there doesn’t seem to be a lot of product in my tube. I’ve had to basically squeeze it flat to get anything out.
Curology the Moisturizer
Size: 15 mL (Full size: 25 mL)

OK. This is where it gets a bit messy. Apparently, Curology packaged and labeled the wrong product. While this tube says “Moisturizer”, it’s actually filled with cleanser!
Thankfully, Allure customer service is pretty great. Actually, they’re the ones who reached out to their subscribers to let them know they can get a replacement product from Curology, and it will be even bigger than what they were going to send out in this box! I’ll update this review when I receive it.
As for the cleanser, I think it’s alright. It doesn’t suds up as much as I had thought it would. After using it, I don’t feel like my skin has been stripped. It’s a pretty decent cleanser!
When Glamour Base Sheet Mask

I’m obsessed with sheet masks, so I’m always glad to receive one in a box. This particular mask is super hydrating. I half-wish they would bottle this up into a serum, which is essentially what all sheet masks are, anyway. But then I wouldn’t get the relaxing experience of this mask! The gel-like material feels so good – especially if you throw it in the fridge for a bit before putting it on.
Acure Resurfacing Glycolic & Unicorn Root Cleanser
Size: 0.67 fl oz (Full size: 4 fl oz)

The safety seal on this product is a little iffy (the cap came off pretty easily, as though it wasn’t secured during manufacturing), so I didn’t try this on my face. I used it on my hand, and, oh boy…the scent of this product rivals the AHC Real Eye Cream for Face. I don’t understand why there would be a need for such strong fragrance in either product, but especially in a cleanser! It’s an O.K. cleanser, but the scent keeps me from liking it.
FINAL IMPRESSION
The Allure Beauty Box May 2020 edition has some misses, but it’s an overall great box! Would I be saying this if it didn’t include the pricey Skin Inc. serum? Hmmm, maybe not. But that goes to show how one amazing product can change the perception of an otherwise “meh” box.
