FIRST IMPRESSION
IPSY reveals the items you’ll be receiving well before they send out the bags, so I knew exactly what I was going to get. So I was waiting for this bag with great anticipation!
The bag is much lovelier than it looked in the spoiler photos. The violet is much more muted than what it looked like in the promo photos, but I don’t mind it at all! This colorway and abstract pattern makes it easy to use throughout the year.
I know it’s not super important, but I appreciate how the products and the bag just look gorgeous together! Whether it was by intention or not, it really does bring a cohesion to this month’s package.
ON TO THE ITEMS!
ARACELI BEAUTY Grande Blending Brush
RV: $14
This brand is new to me, so I was glad to sample it in this bag. This is a full-sized blending brush with soft, tapered bristles. It does a good job of blending eyeshadows, although I do prefer the Luxie brushes I got in a recent BoxyCharm. However, this brush is decent and will find a home in my travel bag.
GLOSSIER Priming Moisturizer Rich
Size: 15 mL (Full size: 50 mL)
RV: $10.50 (Full size: $35)
If you’ve been following any beauty gurus or enthusiasts on Instagram, I’m sure you’ve come across Glossier. And no wonder – the packaging is simply beautiful! I loved photographing this little jar, and it looks even better on my vanity.
Does this brand live up to the hype? I think so! This formula is creamy but settles into the skin quickly. It leaves my face hydrated, too. My skin usually feels dry by mid-morning, but not with this cream!
HELIOS Livin’ Lovely Nail Polish
Size: 15 mL
RV: $12.50
I’m in love with this color! It’s such a pretty orchid shade. It’s a subdued hue, too, so I think I can wear this through the fall. Such a versatile color! It applies evenly, which is a relief for me and my clumsy fingers. If you’re still quarantining and need to DIY your nails, this product is a great dupe for a gel nail polish manicure!
CHRISTOPHE ROBIN Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt
Size: 40 mL (Full size: 250 mL)
RV: $8.48 (Full size: $53)
I’ve been wanting to try this scrub for a long time, so when IPSY revealed it as a choice item for April, it was a no-brainer! The winter months had not been kind to my skin, but especially my scalp. It’s been dry and irritated for the last few months. I’ve been cutting back to washing my hair every other day. On the days I don’t wash my hair, I use a dry shampoo. Of course, this has brought up another issue on its own – product buildup in my hair!
This scrub has done a great job of cleaning up that buildup. It was a bit confusing to use at first. The product comes out of the tub very grainy, but once I move it around a bit on my scalp, it lathers up quite nicely! And after my shower, my hair comes out clean – like, squeaky clean. (Is hair even supposed to do that?) This is a good product to use once or twice a week.
SUGAR COSMETICS Wingman Waterproof Eyeliner in I’ll Be Black
Size: 1.6 mL
RV: $11.99
This is the product I was least excited to receive. I don’t wear liquid eyeliner very much, if at all. Pencil eyeliners work better on my hooded eyes. I debated for a long time whether I should open this up and try it out anyway just so I could do a proper review for you here, but I already have such a large collection of black eyeliners open thanks to subscription boxes. It seemed like a bit of a waste to open this. I hope you guys forgive the lack of info, but I do hate creating waste when it’s not necessary. On the plus side, this will likely go in the giveaway pile for whenever I start doing giveaways on this blog, so this could be yours one day!
FINAL IMPRESSION
This month’s Glam Bag was pretty good! I’ll definitely be buying a full-size Christophe Robin scrub once my sample runs out. And I was so excited to get to try a Glossier product, as I’ve been so curious about this brand.
