Causebox Winter 2019 Editor’s Box: Was It Worth It?

There’s something about seeing a colorful bubble mailer full of makeup in my mailbox or opening the front door and finding a box of goodies on my porch. It’s like Christmas morning every time.

I love receiving these little presents throughout the year. Often, I’ll find new brands to love and products that have become staples in my life. But then there are times that I can be overloaded with just stuff, which is its own special kind of stress.

During Throwback Thursdays, I want to look at past boxes to see if A) I’m still using what I got, or B) Is it collecting dust at the bottom of my closet?

Ultimately, I want to know: Was it worth it to buy this box?

In this post, I’ll be looking back at the Causebox Winter 2019 Editor’s Box. This was $54.95 and included 7 items with a total value of $323.90.

megan portfolio

Glass Ladder & Co. Megan Portfolio Clutch in Black (RV: $120)

Status: In limbo

When I saw this in the spoilers, I thought it would make the perfect gift for a friend. She goes to a lot of conventions and conferences, and this would be a cute way for her to carry documents around.

After I saw it in person, though, I was tempted to keep it for myself! This portfolio checks a lot of boxes. It’s well-made, classy, and, best of all, it’s got a lot of pockets!

However, between the holidays, traveling, and the current stay-in-place order, I haven’t even had a chance to take this out of its packaging. And my friend’s birthday is coming up, so now I’m rethinking whether to just gift it to her instead. What would you do?

whitney kerney mugs

Whitney Kerney Set of 2 Mugs (RV: $35)

Status: Loved every day!

Ever since I got these mugs, I’ve reached for one every morning! These have become my favorite mugs to use. They have a good weight to them, which makes me feel like I’m holding something of good quality. Plus, they’re just really cute! I love seeing these on my desk when I’m working.

jewelry box

Samara Luxe Jewelry Box (RV: $42)

Status: Neglected on my dresser.

For me, this item was more aspirational than practical. I wasn’t blown away when I first got this jewelry box, but the more I see it, the more I like it. The only thing is…I don’t actually like jewelry, so I don’t own a lot of them. There’s only one thing in this box: the pair of earrings that also came with this shipment. So while it’s cute, this box isn’t very useful to me.

scentuals

Scentuals Anti-aging Facial Serum (RV: $44)

Status: In my partner’s Dopp kit

I found this oil to be too heavy for my skin. However, my partner has very dry skin, so I thought it would be good for him to use. I’m currently trying to get him to use the Elemis Pro Collagen Rose Facial Oil I got for him in the last BoxyPopUp, so I put this one in one of his Dopp kits for travel.

soko earrings

Soko Petite Bow Earrings in Gold (RV: $42)

Status: Still in its packaging

Like I mentioned, I don’t really like jewelry…but I do like dressing up once in a while. I’m making it a point this year to make a bit more effort for those special occasions by adding some hardware. These earrings are simple, but they’re far from boring, so I decided to keep them. As of yet, I haven’t had an opportunity to actually use them.

wyld sponge

Wyld French Pink Clay Konjac Sponge (RV: $16.90)

Status: Whereabouts Uknown

I gotta admit, I don’t know where this sponge is. It’s likely that it’s deep within my box of bath products, but it could also be in my gift pile. All I know is that I’m currently not using it.

simply straws

Simply Straws Rose Gold Straw Kit (RV: $24)

Status: Kitchen staple

Like the mugs, I use at least one of these straws every day! I have a ton of silicone straws, but I prefer these stainless steel ones. They’re perfect to use for iced coffee or other drinks because they can double as stirrers. And they’re just nicer to use with my dinnerware than the neon silicone straws!

Was it worth it to buy this box?

I got a lot of use out of this box, so my answer is yes! I would have never bought those mugs or straws on my own, and seeing how much they’ve become part of my day-to-day routine, I would have missed out if I didn’t get this box. Maybe having the jewelry box will inspire me to get more pieces once going out is a thing again. And I’ll most likely be keeping that portfolio clutch 😉
